Teaching of Foreign Languages on Mobile Devices

This thesis deals with the development of foreign language teaching applications for mobile devices. The applications teach phrases and words using effective adaptive algorithms. Educational algorithms adapt to the user by using information from the course of learning in order to maximize teaching effectiveness. The thesis presents educational algorithms and programming in XCode for iOS. The creation of an educational application is composed of several disciplines and so the thesis deals with topics such as the theory of teaching, choice of target mobile platforms, an overview of popular educational applications and user testing.
Support of Learning the Lithuanian

This thesis analyzes the requirements imposed on applications for teaching foreign languages and proposes a structure and functions of a program fulfilling these requirements in a specific case of Lithuanian language. The proposal is afterwards implemented and evaluated in the respect of meeting the objectives.
Importance of foreign languages for accepting to work position

This work shows us a fact, how knowledge of foreign languages is important for entrance to enterprise, witch we’re trying to reach with studying high school. Bachelor’s thesis describes memory, learning, forgetting and also methods, witch confirm prime thesis. One of these methods is submission of questionnaires to enterprises to find out requirements of employers and another are language tests. Tests will be written by students of first and third grades and tell language level. The last object of bachelor’s thesis is finding possibilities of keeping foreign language literacy.
E-Learning System Based on Modern JAVA Technologies

Main goal of this thesis is to analyze the current community and language learning systems and based on this analysis, to create a complex learning system. The system is implemented by modern J2EE technologies such as wickets and OR mapping. The final J2EE application is portable and easy to install on free Apache Tomcat application server or paid SUN application server. System was deployed on public FIT VUT server and tested by a sample of 60 students. Results and review of testing are at the end of this thesis.
Motivation Methods for Students in Russian Language Textbooks

The thesis deals with the issue of motivation of learning Russian as a second foreign language at Czech lower secondary schools. The main aim of the thesis is to determine the level of motivation of teaching aids for Russian language for lower secondary school pupils in the Czech Republic. The thesis consists of theoretical and practical parts. In the theoretical part the concepts of motivation, motivation to learn and teaching aids for foreign language and their role in motivation are explained. In the practical part, three textbooks for Russian language teaching are analysed: Классные друзья, Времена and Поехали. The analysis is based on the criteria developed by the author of the thesis. The conducted research shows that the above- mentioned textbooks are motivating for Russian language teaching, but they have some weaknesses in structure, motivational aspect, clarity of tasks and content. On the basis of the analysis, recommendations for motivating students in using these teaching aids are proposed. Teaching Advanced English Vocabulary: Collocations

This master's thesis examines the significance of collocations in the English language teaching at the corresponding level of secondary schools, i.e., B1 and B2 levels according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The thesis deals with the linguistic aspect of collocations in the theoretical part and is based on the methodological approaches to vocabulary teaching. It analyses selected English language coursebooks: English File, Headway, New Success, High Note, and Maturita Solutions, in order to gain insight into the methodological approaches to developing collocational competence, and the variety of exercises related to collocations. The research offers valuable resources and activities designed to support deeper understanding and practical application of collocational competence among language learners.
The pedagogy of Maria Montessori in the teaching of French as a foreign language in the Czech Republic

This bachelor's thesis approaches the life of Maria Montessori, her pedagogy, and more specifically the teaching of French as a foreign language in Montessori schools. It consists of two parts. The theoretical part of the bachelor's thesis introduces the reader to the basic terminology in the field of alternative pedagogy, what were the impulses and reasons for the emergence of alternative pedagogy as such and describes the development of alternative pedagogy in the Czech Republic and France. Then it focuses on the life and personality of Maria Montessori and her pedagogy, in particular her principles and methods. The thesis also describes the concept of teaching at Montessori schools, including the role of the teacher in education and the specific features of Montessori pedagogy at second grade of elementary school. The theoretical part concludes with a chapter that introduces the reader to Maria Montessori's legacy and how her pedagogy is widespread. It includes a mapping of Montessori school facilities in the three largest cities of the Czech Republic. The practical part consists of a case study of two Montessori primary schools. Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) in Engineering Courses at Brno University of Technology

Cílem této bakalářské práce je vymezit koncepci integrované výuky předmětu a cizího jazyka (CLIL) a analyzovat některé faktory, které ovlivňují úspěšnou implementaci CLIL v odborných předmětech na Vysokém učení technickém v Brně. Teoretická část práce diskutuje výhody CLILu, vysvětluje model Coyleové, Hooda a Marshe a popisuje využití různých pedagogických modelů a strategií při integraci této metody do kurikula. Zároveň také předkládá přehled vybraných výzkumných studií zaměřených na využití CLILu, který ukazuje, že CLIL má na univerzitách významný vliv na výuku odborných předmětů prostřednictvím cizího jazyka. Praktická část práce se zabývá výzkumem zaměřeným na aktuální situaci CLILu v odborných předmětech studijního programu Angličtina v elektrotechnice a informatice na Vysokém učení technickém v Brně. Závěrem práce diskutuje výzkumná zjištění vyplývající z dotazníkového šetření mezi učiteli a studenty a navrhuje, jakým způsobem výuku prostřednictvím CLILu zdokonalit.
Distance learning in German language lessons

This diploma thesis responds to the newly emerging need for distance learning during the coronavirus crisis. The theoretical part presents the specifics of distance learning of foreign languages, while searches of professional texts and final reports of CSI for distance learning of German and an overview of computer applications that foreign language teachers have available to prepare their own teaching. The main emphasis is on the empirical part of the work. It analyzes the Team Deutsch textbook in great detail, including all materials available online, especially in terms of the possibilities of their use in distance learning. Selectively, on the basis of own methodology, suitable texts and suitable exercises are selected, on this basis a specific procedure for working with them in teaching is proposed. These materials are tested, monitored and evaluated on the basis of evaluation forms. Based on the acquired knowledge and using specific software and selected computer applications, own texts and exercises suitable for distance learning of German are designed and their use is verified in our own pedagogical practice.
